Got the motor of my boat and the paint is looking kinda rough. Wondering what kinda paint to use , where to get it, and steps to go about making it look better without a major teardown. THANKS!
What motor do you have??? What color do you want to paint it. Do you want it to look stock or custom. I can tell you the steps to take and point you in the right direction for the parts and paints you need. I have Lycoming gray engine paint in spray cans and the other colors and primer as well. I can supply you with the necessary gaskets to put the pieces back together also. Or you can drop it off at my shop, give me a game plan and pick it up looking like new. Below is an example of Bud Marquis motor painted only. The motor was not disassembled. The mags were removed and rebuilt and the pipes, starter and bolt on pieces were removed but no cylinders were removed or the motor disassembled. This is paint only and new bolts to give it the rebuilt look. iI do quite a few of these "Aerosol Overhauls" when a guy has a good running motor and just wants to freshen it up.Give me a call if I can help you in any way.....

my vote would be just do it right the first time rather then afroenginering it just break it down boil the case then bead blast and paint you can inspect everything when the engine is apart maybe save your self some money in the near future
Mike, on this subject .... I'm building one of those little surplus AO32 four cylinder Continental - Teledyne engines for my Mini.
When I'm done with it it's gonna look like a baby GPU except for the fact that the pushrod tubes are on the top instead of the bottom.
I'm thinkin it'll look a lot like Buddy's engine, except in 1/4 scale. Which rattle-can would you use to get to the Conny color for the case?
