parachute

Is anyone interested in a square airfoil canopy parachute? (red & white)

I have one that I don't want anymore.

I'll take it to the races and keep it in the back of the truck. First $40 will get it.

It's just the canopy, no rigging, no harness, no bag.

Good for a "hey y'all watch this" kind of thing.

Some word of warning, this thing is FAR FROM CERTIFIED. I don't want it because I'd not trust it even towed behind a boat. It was on the wall at Sloppy Joe's Orlando for a few weeks until I took it down because it looked so stupid. It was attached to the sheetrock with a staple gun. You cannot see the holes the staples made, the fabric seems to have recovered, but I know those holes WERE there.... hence my reasons for not trusting it. Visually, it looks fine (to my untrained eye).

It'd probably work pretty good as a traction kite if there are any of those kind of surfers amongst us. I just lost interest in ever putting it together for that. I'm getting too old for that kind of antic anyway.

It's been awhile since I said "Hey y'all watch this".

Do you think I oughtta get a disclaimer signed when I get rid of it?

Stuff like this should go in the classifieds.... I know. But I was just cleaning stuff out this morning and found it. And if it don't go at the races, I'll probably put it at the curb with the rest of the trash.

Just thought someone else here may have some fun with it.

It'd make a good boat or car cover too.

This whole thing has got me thinking....

You know those guys who strap a small motor with a 36 inch prop to their backs, and then go out with the big airfoil 'chute wing......

I wonder how big of a parachute wing you'd need to get a lightweight airboat up.

Some of them things look like a little go-cart anyway. Seats two.... just put a small hull and a bigger chute on one. and cruise the marsh. If you get board, pop the chute open and take to the skies.

Talk about running DRY!!!!!

I know there are amphibous ultralights out there. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever converted an Airboat into one. And one that can operate AS AN AIRBOAT when desired.

I wonder what it'd take. I know this little canopy is not big enough. It's not the right type either. It's a traditional square (rectangle) parachute. Scoops air into the front, inflates to an airfoil shape.

I already packed it into the truck. Make an offer. Heck, I'm gonna toss it in the trash anyway.

:)
