Pat,
Lycon engines are producing big hp, and they do not publish their mods. I think they would discuss some airboat modifications with you. You should give them a call. their web site is:
http://www.lycon.com/
This is what I think:
Maximum power is produced at 2750 on 100LL.
The cylinders and pistons are not stock. The compression ratio is 11to1. The heads are ported.
It has cold air induction.
The fuel injection servo is larger.
The cam is Lycoming.
The oiling system is also modified to better lubricate the cam and other mods.
I'm sure there are other mods that I do not know about.
This engine needs pressure cooling to keep the heads cool and in my opinion would not make a good airboat engine. I don't think it would tolerate much throttle jockying either. It has six egt's and six cht's that are monitored by a digital indicator that reads all 12 at the same time and auto alarms if one exceeds a preset value.
In my opinion, a small nitrous system would be a good inexpensive setup for an airboat.
