Picture you need to see

Sniper

Well-known member
For you guy's that would like to see what can be done with an Airboat by a very experienced operator in one of the most extreme conditions look at the picture I just posted of Brian Edwards in the picture gallery I hope some one that knows how to do it will put it on this thread when you see this picture all you can say is WOW and this is the kind of experience and skill that is required to do Rescue work in a Airboat I had the same situation getting the two ComCast guys off the Chattahoochee but it was a night and a heck of a lot warmer he is in 17 degrees

Here you go Sniper..BPS

That would be a real bad time for the coil wire lead to pop out wouldn't it ?
He's the real deal.

You are right it would be bad time for the motor to quit, I guess that's why I am so matriculate about maintaining my boat like Thunder has commented on in the past

I'm a big believer in safety wire and tyraps. By the way, Harbor freight sells stainless steel tyraps now ..... they come bundled up in a plastic jar. UV won't get to em.

That is a great picture. I'll bet he doesn't have low cut down sides for that kind of running. I think I'll stay in calmer waters myself. I'm not very meticulous. It seems I always have to wait to fix a problem rather than being meticulous and preventing the problem in the first place.

It's amazing how much more precise, skilled, and professional you become when lives are on the line! My hats certainly off.

but on second thought i know some x generation dudes that would rope in with a surf board from a chopper surf that hump for a hour or two an not even get there ipod wet it reminds of sabastion inlet been ther done that. the hero is the brave soul with the helmet sitting in the bottom of the boat hes got no control. i hate the pasenger seat in airboats an motorcycles

WOW!!! I agree, Brian must have nerves of steel to even attempt running in that quagmire. And I thought the wake from Ray Clay's boat was bad.......

I'd really like to see what happened 1 second after this picture was taken. Looks like the bow was pretty much in danger of going under........or at the least both guys were about to get soaked!!!

One more thought.....I guess as long as you stay directly with/against the current, you're probably okay. But get a little bit sideways, and it's all over.

I'll stick to the waves in the 'Glades.........

Dang it Sniper, ya gone and embarrassed me again...

I'm not doing anything that other members here wouldn't do if:
A. They had a lobotomy,,,,,
B. They had no common sense.....
C. Their gluttons for punishment....
D. They have a REAL good friend back at the factory.... :D :D :D (Hi Faron :D)

That picture was taken two or three years ago on Jan. 1 while doing swiftwater training. Ironically, last year withing 100 feet from the spot that picture was taken we had a swiftwater rescue. The water was HIGHER than in the picture so the velocity was faster too. Luckily, it was middle of July so temp. wasn't a problem.. A PWC rider with more guts than brains tried to go up near the dam during flood stage. Needless to say, the rive won.. We plucked him off a submerged tree that he was holding on to for dear life..
If he would have lost his grip or let go, he only would have made it about 75 feet downstream to a massive strainer and we would have had a recovery.. We only had two way to retrieve him, the airboat or a Coast Guard helo. the helo could have easily blasted him off his perch with the rotor wash so the airboat went in.. If I wouldn't have done (and still do) the swiftwater training I do, the outcome may not have been so happy.

The picture is a little deceiving in that I'm off on the end of the large standing wave.
Even I have enough synapses still firing to stay off the big standing waves.. I only tease them and tickle em' a little....

I wish you all could see the rescue Sniper went on a few years back.. Same conditions but at night!!! And you guys say I have big cohonies..
His are dragging the ground! ! ! !
