Pipe on bow?

Just curious I have noticed more boats with apx. a 10in pipe with a small section cut out mounted on the bow. What’s it for?

Frog gigging, take the gig with frog stuck on it, place frog in pipe, pull back, leaving frog in chute, stick another, repeat. Never slow down or need to touch frogs till cleaning time.
