Pitching a 72” two blade on a 350 dd

What are y’alls thoughts on the pitch I should be running? It’s an old hamant 12’ with a 350 direct and a 72” 2 blade sensenich.

i would leave the boat on the trailer and set the pitch at 2900 rpm at WOT (or whatever that prop is rated at)

Charlie,

No one knows the best setting for your specific setup, you will need to find it. It would be useful to know what specific Sensenich you have. Measure the width of the blade at it's widest point. Also, what style of hub? Do you have 4 bolts to pull an outer half off, the remove the blades, then remove the inner hub? Or, can you pull the hub from the engine with the hub & blade as an assembly?

72" is a lot of prop for a 350 DD. If it is a wide blade you might need to adjust below the #1 setting to run out to 2,900 per above. If that is the case, you need narrower blades or smaller diameter.

Measured 11in at the widest point.. I ran it the other day and it ran pretty good but don’t know much about pitching the props.

Where are you out of? I ran a DD for years and it ran dry easily the way I had it setup.

That 72” prop is way too much for that 350. Will it work, yes. But a narrower 68” or 70” or even a 5 blade would be a lot better
