plug wires

I just got some new plug wires from the auto store and just for kicks I put my Fluke meter on them to see what they would read and 5 of them were in the same range and the other 3 were reading almost twice as high. I have never done that to plug wires before but shouldn't they all be somewhat close? I think I am going to take them back and get my money. Any of you performance gurus know anything on this subject. Thanks guys. :?: :( :?:

Edit: Before you ask, yes they were the cheap ones. (as I hold my head down in shame.)

It would be interesting to check the resistance on a hi dollar set of wires
and see how they stack up. Good thinking.

Yes you can check wires that way. The resistance should be the same for the same length wire. The MSD super wires are 50 ohms per foot. The old carbon center wires about 20 years ago were 2000 ohms per foot. When you checked them you would normally find them way off if they were bad.

Bravo makes a great point .... the longer wires in a set will naturally have a little more resistance than the shorter ones. All you need to be concerned with is one that is way out of line with the rest.

I knew the longer ones would read higher and when I was testing I had one of the shortest ones read a lot higher than the longest one. I am takin them back.
