Poachers at STA 5 BUSTED ON 12/31/06

Capt Jeff

Well-known member
The poachers that were reported last week at STA 5 have been BUSTED

Charged with:

1. Littering
2. Wanton and Willful Waste
3. Shooting over the limit

The LEO's stopped picking up birds at 88 between 4 guys. They are prosecuting to the fullest extent.

The warden's were in the water on kayaks watching the entire action the whole time. Way to step up FWC!!!!!!!!! Maybe this will set an example and people will play by the rules.

Capt Jeff---what report are you talking about? First I heard of this---were they shooting there on off days? Or just sneaking in and killing ducks? Any names? Best, charles

Some of the UWF guys found a pile of dead birds & sheels @ last weeks hunt & reported it to FWC.

On Saturday, FWC went out with yaks & busted the a-holes!!!

OVER BUDGET":3ei1hsqw said:
Why would they sit there and watch them kill over 88 birds without moving in sooner :?:

By the time they got from the levee to their yaks, it was all over.

I'll bet the fine for 88 birds hurts a lot more
than for one or two over the limit.
The anti hunting crowd just loves guys
like these, it gives them fuel for their fight
If you see people like this, call the man !!

i read a tread aboat some one getting busted down stick marsh talked to gamewarden down ther he said it never happend

If they were only one or two over the limit it would only result in a ticket. But now with them 88 over that is a felony and can easily result in prison time ,10's of thousands in fines and they WILL loose there hunting privileges for life.

Hey Woody, UWF is the state duck organization United Waterfowlers-Florida,Inc. I am a member and if you hunt please come aboard. Converted on this site is a seat holder so a PM to him can get you some good info. I also support the rope idea, just have a few suggestions of where to put the noose! I would be happy with my six and watch the others pass overhead. Thats what its all about, birds in the air,not all on the ground.

Five duck hunters arrested

Five duck hunters were arrested Sunday at Stormwater Treatment Area 5 in Hendry County for shooting 88 ducks, more than double the legal limit.

According to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, officers John Wilke and Greg Louque watched as the men shot ducks in excess of the six-per-person bag limit.

Javier Garcia, Daniel Garcia-Cruz and Manuel Rodriguez of Tampa, Reinaldo Roman of Miami and Juan Louis Perez of Miramar were charged with taking ducks over the bag limit and willful waste of wildlife, both misdemeanor offenses.

STA-5 is one of several man-made marshes that cleanse water flowing into the Everglades. The STAs that are open to duck hunting have produced good numbers of ducks for hunters this year.

Anyone with information on a possible hunting, boating or fishing violation can call the FWC's Wildlife Alert Hotline at (888) 404-3922.
