Poly bolting question

Current poly on a glass hull, I can probably reuse a lot of my bolts, question is, was it done correctly? They countersunk big pan phillip head bolts so the head of the bolt was flush with the polysurface.

Anything wrong with going back the same way. Seems like a much less drag issue that way.

1/4 on the boat now, going to 3/8 instead unless someone tells me different.

I always set the scrfew heads below the poly so there is wear room. 3/8" is fine unless you have a really small light weight boat.

I TRY TO LET THE SUN HEAT THE POLY UP SO IT WILL STRETCH. THEN PUT THE SCREWS ON A 4" X 4" PATTERN.THAT WAY WHEN IT SHRINKS IT CAN'T AND WHEN IT WANTS TO GROW IT CAN'T.THE TIGHTER YOU LAY IT THE BETTER OFF YOU ARE .

rost 495, I use a 3/16" or 10/32 aircraft screw, I do this because the counter sink angle is different it's 100 deg as compared to 80 deg on regular screws. I do this because I use what is called a stop sink which is a counter sink that is adjustable in the depth of it's cut. You can buy this tool and the screws through Aircraft Spruce and Specialty with two locations, on the GA the other IL.

I install the screws using a air driven screw driver with air pressure turn down to about 50 psi, you can of course use an ele drill motor with a clutch, if you don't you can literally pull the screw all the way through the poloy. My bolt patter is 2" on the edge and 6-8" on center in the interior. If you like I can give you the AN an MS number of the hardware if you wish. Oh! I use and elastic stop nut and a thin ss washer. Info is welcome, I"m not sure what I have on the boat now, but I"m gathering info, poly time will probably be July/August when we hit 110 or so in the sun every afternoon, will make a good weekend project, take the cage etc... off in the AM, lay the poly out, take off old poly, put the new poly on the hull for the afternoon and start in a few bolts, and figure out how to tension the hot poly a bit.

I"ll look into my existing bolt pattern, and may add some as needed.

Thanks, Jeff
