Porposing question?

Hey guys, i've read the other posts i found on here about this, but i don't see anything that says how much to bend the 1 inch lip at the transom down. Being i am very new to this and have a brand new 13x7.6 diamondback hull that is porposing really bad, i would appreciate any input i can get, before i go hammering the lip down. What incraments should i try, 1/4" , 1/2", ect...and what is the most you want to go before you run into nose plowing. Thanks in advance for any help..... :? :? :?

kaos, it's gonna be really hard to tell how much you're bending it. just take two cresent wrenches (side by side) and start bending. you'll feel the bend more than see it. i do it to my air ranger and it works very well. i would recommend not bending in the center. i just bend the sections that don't touch dry ground. another words, i start at the chime and work down about a foot on each side. don't bend very hard right next to the chime cause you'll crack that weld. if you bend the center, you have to redo it everytime you run dry ground. i'd start by bending those sections down about 1/8" below flush. that should help out quite a bit. i wouldn't go no more than 1/4". if its still porpoising after that you're gonna have to put on a lenco trim or adjust your setup some cause it'll be impossible to keep a 1/2" bend in it....

Kaos, if that new DB of yours is porpoising I'd haul it back to Bobby and let him work it out.
A new boat is the responsibilty of it's builder ..... he should have to make it run right for you at no charge.

i agree with you there Olf Art, but, only if DB built it and assembled it. if Kaos assembled a kit boat or just a hull, it'll be his responsibility then. otherwise, i agree with you. might be a way to get a trim for FREE!!!

I just bought a new hull from diamondback, and had them switch the rigging with motor over from my other hull. They told me when i picked it up that it might porpose, and i might have to bend the lip down some, and i don't have time between now and opening day of gator season to bring it up to them to do it. Thats why i needed to know how much and what area to adjust...

i understand that. i'd just bend it down a little like i said before and then see how it does. if it still bounces you can put your weight toward the front....

KAOS DID YOU HAVE POLY INSTALLED ON YOUR NEW HULL ? IF YOU DID THEN MOST LIKELY THEY RUN THE LAST ROW OF RIVITS FOR THE POLY ACROSS THE TRANSOM LIP LIKE THEY DID MINE, TROUBLE IS THE RIVIT PATTERN ON POLY IS 4 OR 5 INCH SQUARE PATTERN ,SO YOU HAVE A 5 IN GAP ACROSS THE RIVIT LINE ON YOUR TRANSOM LIP AND IT TENDS TO WAVE IN-BETWEEN RIVITS....THATS WHAT YOU NEED TO BEAT FLAT ON THE TRANSON LIP... YOU WANT A STRAIGHT FLUSH LINE DOWN THE TRANSOM LIP AND IT SHOULD SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM...10 MINUTE JOB IF THATS THE PROBLEM

bend it a little drive it a little ... not enough ....pull on the hill and repeat as needed ... too much as in runs on the nose ... take som eout. Its all trail and error but its all fun.
