Camp Mack has a sign up that says something like " airboats... no power loading... county ord. violation.

I was curious so I went and looked for the POWER LOADING LAW and I found it here it is and it applies to all boats not just airboats so tell all your bass boat buddies to get over power loading in polk county it is illegal LOL

Sec. 4.2-27. Regulations and standards.

Power loading shall mean the act of exceeding idle speed of the vessel's engine while loading or unloading a vessel at a boat ramp.

j) No person shall power load any vessel onto a trailer at any county boat ramp in such a manner as to potentially contribute to the undermining of the ramp or create a nuisance noise.

Next is Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches ! Look out they will be doing cooler checks soon !

Scotty

Probably impossible to have any fun without busting some worthless statute!

Bear I thought about going ahead an dposting the peanut butter and jelly sandwich law but figured you wouldn't believe it but if you are bored in marion county they have a place called rainbow river and if you have a peanut butter sandwich on it ... well it better not be in a baggie it better be in a re-usable type container such as tupperware. I got busted there for a drink in a plastic cup and sandwiches in saran wrap. I had to load the boat back on the trailer and leave or else throw all my stuff away. I would have thrown it away except that my water was also in plastic bottles from the store. The fine fir each of these items was 135 bucks a piece ... each item say you have a cooler with a 12 pack of coke in it yep 135 bucks times 12. oh yeah absolutley no alchohol any way shape form or fashion period, you go to jail for that one.

And that river is crowded all the time it also is an idle only zone for miles and miles. It is the run for rainbow springs ... very pretty great diving and swimming and no litter anywhere you look. So i can't say its all bad but it was a pain till I got the right rule book to play with.

Must be run by the Religious Right Nazzis ! NEOCONS, its all their fault !
Could be the WTO, ya just cant tell anymore.

Scotty

The ramp at Camp Mack is private. Polk County's law states "county park ramp". Camp Mack makes a WHOLE LOT more money on folks who are disturbed by power loaded airboats than they do off airboats. That's probably the reason for their rule.

There is a county maintained airboat launch on the west side of lone cabbage. Everybody and I mean everybody dry loads their airboats, including the Sheriffs and Game Warden. But that in Brevard County.

The law applies to the whole county not just county parks big daddy and it applies to all boats not just airboats..... taken straight from the law

Sec. 4.2-22. Statement of policy.
Polk County has approximately five hundred fifty (550) lakes covering over ninety-three thousand (93,000) acres and hundreds of miles of streams and rivers. Chapter 327, Florida Statutes, and Section 327.60, Florida Statutes, authorizes local governments to adopt ordinances for the regulation of any vessel operated upon local waterways. The numerous lakes and streams are a major asset to Polk County. Their uses include: Recreation (swimming, fishing, water skiing, and boating), esthetics, commercial fisheries, wildlife habitat, and water supply. The proper management and preservation of these systems is an important goal of Polk County including the safe operation of vessels and the minimization of user conflict. The board of county commissioners of Polk County, Florida, finds it necessary in the public interest to so regulate waterway activities for the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Polk County with the intent that vessels be operated in a manner which assures reasonable and prudentuse of Polk County's waterways by all who attempt to use them.
(Ord. No. 91-13, Art. I, § 1-2, 6-18-91; Ord. No. 93-37, Art. I, § 1-2, 8-10-93)

Sec. 4.2-23. Applicability.
The regulations herein set forth shall apply to all navigable waters, creeks, canals and channels (whether natural or manmade) located in the unincorporated areas of Polk County and within the corporate limits of each Polk County municipality. In the event that a municipality has a charter provision or ordinance which is in conflict with the provisions of this article, then this section shall not be effective within such municipality to the extent of such conflict.
(Ord. No. 91-13, Art. I, § 1-3, 6-18-91; Ord. No. 92-30, § 1, 9-22-92; Ord. No. 93-37, Art. I, § 1-3, 8-10-93)

Sec. 4.2-24. Exemptions.
The provisions of this article shall not be construed to prohibit the running of racing or exhibition vessels during a publicly announced, properly authorized and supervised, and adequately patrolled regatta or speed trial or exhibition. Theme parks, authorized law enforcement, medical emergencies, environmental management activities and activities on lakes lying entirely within lands wholly under one person are exempt.
(Ord. No. 91-13, Art. I, § 1-4, 6-18-91; Ord. No. 93-37, Art. I, § 1-4, 8-10-93)

What ever they're reasoning BD, when I'm up there for the Reunion in Oct. if that sign says "airboats" I'm gonna take the damn thing down. Chainsaw will be in my truck.

I'll personally make them justify that if it reads that way. Hey, I'm old .... they can't hit me, and I'll claim dimentia otherwise :) .

I still like to dry load if I am way away from folks - without the chance to make anyone mad. I don't dry load my guide boat or airboat otherwise. My 250 Yamaha is far more harmful when dry loading than my airboat ever will be - except to someone's ears. Load 'em like you want to. I'll do the same.

I don't have a problem floting my boat on the tralier. that makes the S.O.B.s
in the bass boats wait. If thay get mouthy I get slower.

But I could power load and clean there boat out. But that would get me a tickit for littering.

Cntry - I never thought about the mechanics of powerloading a bass boat. Yeah, that prop wash really could do some damage to the end of the ramp.

Figures that most ramps have a big dropoff at the end of the pavement.

Now we know who to blame for that.

At least with airboats - which are naturally eco-friendly, the only issue with power loading is a little noise - for a VERY BRIEF period of time. No physical damage.

matt.

Just for the RECORD .... I LOVE DRY LOADING/POWER LOADING I feel it is a waste of time to back down a ramp get out of my boat get my feet wet just to winch my boat up on the trailer when in 60 seconds or less i can just put the darn thing on there and be done with it. LOL
