Powershift prop question?

I am getting a 72 inch 2 blade powershift for my caddy 500 on a 14 ft boat and have a question. What is a good starting point for the pitch? Does this prop have marks or do I have to use my protractor? Any advise would help.Thanks.

you should have bought my 76 inch prop.....but if you want me to drop by, we can get a good starting point. Middle works best

If it has marks or not use a digital protractor. I set mine up when I got it using the marks and it ran great. I got a digital protractor from my daughter for Christmas and just for kicks I double checked it and there was up to .5 difference between them. I re-looked at the marks and they were exactly the same so I re-adjusted the blades using the protractor and man what a difference!! It is quieter, no vibration at all, and believe it or not it seams to run even stronger!! IMO they should remove the marks and tell you in the instructions that a digital protractor is a mandatory tool for adjustment. I know I will never use the marks again

On second thought I guess you do need the marks for a starting point but I would never torque it down until I put the protractor on it :!:

for the price of a new prop i think a digital protracter should come with it,but that is just my opinion.

You right Bonds it should but they would just add it to the price.

I had a vibration at 3000rpm so I went out and purchase a bubble protractor for about 8 dollars and by the marks on my Whirl Wind I had one mark on my blade that wasn't just right so after I was done the vibration was gone.

Now I seen airboat builders us a piece of rod to dial in a prop some my bubble protractor is a big step.

If it is a stock caddy then i would try dead on the index marks or just a little to the motor side of the hub as a starting point. You should try to pitch it to turn around 2900-3000 for best push IMO. my buddies caddy with a built motor like his 74" signature about 1/8" past the hub gap towards the motor.
