Preparing Airboat for approaching storm ?

This might be a silly question. This is my first storm situation owning an airboat. Are there any special considerations specific to airboats and storm prep. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Boat sits under a canopy which has been removed and the boat is exposed and on trailer. I know the storm is only possibly going to be a cat. 1 at most, but I hadn't really thought about this issue until now.

Most suggest taking the airboat off the trailer, putting it flat on the ground and filling it full of water. it will be there when the storm is over. Try to pick an area where flying debris won't smack it too bad.

I've dropped my boat off the trailor before. Plug it and it will fill with water. Might want to find a way to cover your motor securely so it stays as dry as possible. Not much advise but take what you want from it...

Matt, I got a kick out of your reply and I'd love to. But, I work Fire/Rescue and am on duty Friday and possibly longer depending on storm.

Filling the boat with water will help keep it where you put it.

Last year our boats rode out two cat 2 storms.

We strapped them down to the trailers. Found an open area place with an anchor in the ground. Tied the rear of the trailers to the anchor with a nylon sling. Pulled the trucks forward to tighten the sling, and set the brake, and walked away hoping for the best.

They came through just fine, except for the mags getting a good internal wash down.

Oh yeah. Secure your rudders, or remove it. We just tied ours off with good rope, and they did not bang all over the place in the storm.

I really feel for you guys and gals in Florida. I to live on the coast but the last few years ya'll have been getting hammered. Good luck and we will pray everything turns out OK for ya'll.

like the hurricane said to the cocanut palm .. hold onto your nuts this aint no ordinary xxow job. (cleaned that up for the kids). But seriously water in the hull will do it, probably don't need to fill with hose because the rains preceding the winds will do that for you. Don't park under trees which is hard at my house. cover the engine but not the cage. I also suggest a small prayer short but to the point and put in a kind word for TRUDY just in case. You know sorta like in case a tree falls on her o lord make it a direct hit...

great posts, and in fact probably the advice we will all use the quickest
( as in 100 of us fillin our boats up with water within hours of reading this)

wait a second, i thought we were supposed to keep the water outside the hull ????
