prop height

on a 15 foot rivermaster is it an ok height for the center of the prop hub to be 58inches from the hulls bottom.i am going gearbox and wont to see where i can save a little money.buy not having to do another engine stand.

well does it clear the cage ?? how deep in the hull is the tip ?? I have never put a lot of belief in the high center of gravity complaint you just learn to compensate and drive around it.

i would say the hull is somewhere around 22inch deep.the cage does not clear but that would be about the only mod. if that center of prop height is acceptable.

I'd like to see the input on this. I see some that has about 6" running below the transom. Mine is a 15' Rivermaster with a 72" paddle prop and it clears. Your measurements would allow a 72" wouldn't it? 58" minus 22" leaves 36" X 2 = 72" ?? Is that right? Later

you want to keep your prop at least 2" below the top of the transome and no more than 5" down in side the boat most try to keep it 2-3" that way you can blow the water out..

thank you cchardt, with the way my stand is the prop with a gearbox will be 3 inch below transom.when my stand and cage were built they were built to house no bigger than a 74inch prop so the motor was set lower in the boat.

Just remember the center of your prop with a gear box is about 5 inchs above your gear drive prop centerline . I know you know that , but didnt have anything to add to the thread cc beat me too it !5 inches and less is cool !
