Prop Length

How far should the prop extend below the top of the transom? Seems to me that any length below it is wasted due to the fact that no push is generated at that point. Maybe the reflection of the air off the transom back into the prop is no good either? Just a question that popped into my mind when I was sitting in the shop looking at the back end of my boat.

I believe the thrust of your prop comes more from the center of it than at the tips. I have felt back there when runnin on the traile rand no air movin outward at the tips.

use a piece of string at the tips. You probably have reverse flow there.
