Proposed Airboat Muffling Enforcement Protocol and Courteous Operation Educational Effort
PUBLIC WORKSHOPS:
The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Division of Law Enforcement, announces two public workshops concerning the FWC's Proposed Airboat Muffling Enforcement Protocol and Courteous Operation Educational Effort.
DATES AND TIMES:
Wednesday, October 26, 2005, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum, Events Hall, 300 Gulf Stream Way, Dania Beach, FL 33004. (IGFA is located next to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.)
Directions:
Take I-95 to Griffin Road Exit 23; west on Griffin to first light (Anglers Ave.); south to Gulf Stream Way; left at Sportsman's Park.
Thursday, October 27, 2005, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Central Florida Community College, Ewers Century Center (Klein Conference Center), Room A, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala, FL 34474.
Directions:
From the North - I-75 south to Ocala exit 350. Go left (east) on State Road 200 for 1 mile. Turn left at traffic light onto SW 26th Street. Right at fork to first building on left (the Century Center). Information Center is in lobby.
From the South - I-75 north to Ocala exit 350. Go right (east) on State Road 200 for 1 mile. Turn left at traffic light onto SW 26th Street. Right at fork to first building on left (the Century Center). Information Center is in lobby.
From the East - State Road 40 to west Ocala at SW 27th Avenue. Go left (south) onto SW 27th Avenue 1.4/ miles. Turn right (west) onto State Road 200 and make a right at first traffic light onto SW 26th Street. Right at fork to first building on left (the Century Center). Information Center is in lobby.
From the West - State Road 200 for 1 mile past I-75. Turn left at traffic light onto SW 26th Street. Right at fork to first building on left (the Century Center). Information Center is in lobby.
GENERAL SUBJECT MATTER TO BE CONSIDERED:
The FWC is holding workshops to receive public comments regarding their proposed enforcement protocol pertaining to muffling airboat engines. Florida Atlantic University just completed the Final Report on Airboat Sound Research and the proposed enforcement protocol is based on the findings. Additionally, the Commission is asking for public input in its preparation to initiate an educational effort which will focus on safe and courteous airboat operation with emphasis on the reduction of airboat sound levels.
