MY LAST MOTOR WAS A (0-470-B 240 HP @ 2600 R.P.M. ANGLE VALVE) AND IT DID REAL GOOD WITH A 72X36 WIDE BLADE WOOD PROP...

MY NEW MOTOR IS A (IO-470-S ) IT WAS 260 HP @ 2625 R.P.M. WITH THE STRAIGHT VALVE CYLINDERS ), IT WAS JUST CONVERTED TO ANGLE VALVE CYLINDERS WITH 8.6:1 PISTONS IM HOPING FOR AT LEAST 15 TO 20 MORE HORSE OR BETTER SO SHE SHOULD BE AT LEAST 275 HP NOW )

IVE ALWAYS BEEN LEARY OF THE ADJUSTBLE PROPS AND ALL THE POWER SHIFT STORIES HAVENT EASED MY MIND NONE , IM LOOKING FOR ADVISE FROM YOU PROP DEALERS AND 1 ST HAND STORIES FROM YOU GUY'S THAT RUN THEM..... THANKS ALOT GUY'S ALL COMMENTS ARE APRECIATED ....

i had a PS Sig 72" 2 blade and it did ok on my 260 Lyc. switched to the Sensenich 3 blade 78" and like it better. cruises and moves on dry ground at about 200-300 rpms less than it did with the 2 blade PS, both set at 2850 max rpms. whirlwind gives you the 30 day satisfaction guarantee so i'd suggest talking to faron and trying out the three blade configuration.

I run a AB 300 on a direct drive 455 olds and it spins at approx 2800 rpm with I believe is 16 degree pitch. Had a 72/38 before which we could spin over 3000 rpm which is a little to high so we put the adjustible on and it made a big difference.

I just wanted to point out something I noticed the other day on a friend's Whirlwind.

It has the degree markings on the hub, but they tell you how many degrees the parting line is twisted from the hub, not the angle of the tips. I have a Warp Drive and pitch is set at the tips.

Just thought this might be useful info for comparison purposes.

D-BREWSTER, you will be happy with a composite prop. The adjsutability is great, but they are just tough as hell and usually quieter than wood to boot. Money well-spent for sure.

Unclebubba, Swampdonkey, What length are you running and are they Supersnapper's or Stumppullers, Thanks 8)

I run a 74" Stump Puller AB200 on my DD stock Caddy. Set at 18 degrees on the second mark on the prop. (they have a cast line in them and then thy put a mark 1/4 inch past for engines that require more pitch. Ran a 72 x 38 paddle on it before this and night and day difference. Whirl Wind Works. They are tough as well... had my air cleaner go thru it and it just scuffed the prop. In fact the scuffs have washed off by now I love mine.

Purchased 3 ab200 72 " stump pullers...wasted money for work boats...never got 200 hrs out of any one of them...one wouldn't track...one cracked hub...one threw nickle..had blades reconditioned...same luck...in the garbage can.

Thanks! 8) Whirlwind recomended the two blade but from what I have read three blades is better. Also have requests into Sensenich for information.
Good luck hunting! getting cooler and trees are starting to turn color. Birds open this weekend for us. 8)
