"Q" Series Superwide????????????

I keep hearing every body talk about this Sensenich "Q" series Superwide prop. I must be confused, I own a Sensenich "K" series wide blade that measures 12" wide. The "Q" series prop measures 10.5" wide and is the swept style blade. Is it possible that people are confusing the "Q" with the "S" series swept superwide that measures 15" wide beacuse it is a swept style blade like the "Q?"

Just wondering, I was starting to think I could have gotten a better prop than I have for my rig.

H = "Narrow Blade" 8.5" wide

Q = "Swept Medium" 10.5" wide

K = "Wide Blade" 12" wide

S = "Swept Superwide" 15" wide

I think there is a H.P and RPM range where each of those will work best. Likely most are in the "Q" series H.P. & RPM range.

We are all talking about what Sesenich calls their Swept Super Wide. However when their Swept blades first came out they called them the Q-series I believe to represent Quite. Well then awhile later they came out with the super Wide in the same swept style so us rednecks my self included did not have any info on them in the beginning so we started calling them Q series super wide because they are a Q Series swept blade and their wide, however Sensenichs and the official distinction is a S blade. I just call them the quite BFP!

Yea I have been calling the S series blade the Qseries to untill I read a post by red Dwarf this morning and he clairafied it and I looked on the instructions I just got with my three blade prop and he was right but untill that I thought it was the Q series and then it was wide,medium wide and ultawide but the ultrawide is called the S series so I guess we need to get our lingo right

Sensenich composite propeller nomenclature:

Blade Model L72H

"L" - left hand rotation - A/C DD or belt drive ("R" for right hand - gear box)

"72" - propeller design diameter (can be shorter due to hub length or tip cut off)

"H" - Blade design (actually refers to the activity factor of the blade design)

Propeller Model 3S0R79S-1

"3S0" - 3 blade short hub (blades shanks are as close together as possible). Can also be 3S1 (each shank moved out 1 inch), or 3S2 (each shank moved out 2 inches).

"R79S-1" - Right hand super wide blade with 1 inch trimmed off tip to reduce propeller diameter

Thank you. That makes perfect sense. I didn't realize until this morning that y'all offered different shank lengths as well as blade lengths too.

I'm assuming that's to accomodate transom height, or is there more to it than that ?

Actually it is different hub lengths. The blades (including shanks) are just moved out further from the center of rotation (COR)

Also copied this from an earlier response and added additional info in parentheses

H = "Narrow Blade" 8.5" wide (72" - lefthand only, 78" - left and right hand)

Q = "Swept Medium" 10.5" wide (left hand only, 68" to 74" two blade, 70" to 76" three blade)

K = "Wide Blade" 12" wide (left and right hand, 76" to 82" two blade, 78" to 84" three blade)

S = "Swept Superwide" 15" wide (same as "K" series)

The different hubs allow different length props from the same blades. The bigger the diameter the more prop you have and the more hp/tq needed to spin it and hopefully more thrust from it if all goes according to plan.

I am currently spinnin the 84" 3blade super wide set past the number three mark and according to don at sens. I need to add a fourth blade to get the pitch back to the middle mark for optimum results.

All I know is when I have a prop question I ask the prop makers and I always get answers that make sense.

LOL I have been told that it does. I paid for it too make hp. However I wasn't able to get it on a dyno before I installed it on the boat because it was in the middle of race season and they were all tied up. I will be getting it on a dyno here pretty soon as the season is winding down and my boys can fit me in again. I don't put them out unless it is an emergency. I also run a 3.12 stinger box and turn the prop at mach 0.5 more or less.

I siuspect that there are a few horses in there somewhere.
