Radial engine

There is currently listed for sale in the Houston newspaper an airboat with a "Cont 240 radial 7 cyl" engine. There are not a lot of airboats around here and I have never seen one with a radial engine. What's the opinion on this engine?

I don't know about parts prices and radial engines need to be pulled through by hand before starting to make sure the bottom cylinders are not full of oil causing a "hydraulic lock".

There was a guy here in south Louisiana who had a boat similar to what you are describing, it had a red cage and stand on a 13' or 14' aluminum hull. May be the same boat. It idled like a tractor but pushed like a freight train. I am not sure the truth behind what was said but he claimed it was putting out 300+ HP.
