We are seeing some fairly reasonable possibilities that may lead us to buy a used alum boat & have it redone.
Have you been thru this, how did it go & who would you recommend? Would you doit agn or just buy new hull & go from there? How does cost compare?
See many new boat builders saying build to spec but it's generally cost up when new & especially if it's a little different. Usually when we need to have something done depending what itis we know the people around here that do whatever we need. But this time not so, we won't know them from a sack of salt & most Americans have more schemes than carter has pills.
Already found this at the first Airboat builder we went to & were only there abt 20 minutes.
The other thing I need to ask, will we find a used alum boat anywhere without corrosion? We don't want to wind up with an Edsel boat. Someone must know what is what & get it right the first time. We have a welder that is one of the sharpest ever invented But he has never done such things as balance a big engine on an Airboat.
We now know, thanx to everyone on this site & at Inverness, Fl our needed hull should be at or abt 15x8 open hull aluminum & heavy motor.
Oh yes just one more, does anyone use stainless bottom? That's all.
Thanx, Gben
