Remote Tach for Lycoming

Des Moines Boater

Well-known member
I'm moving my instrument panel from behind my seat to the front of the boat. About 10 feet of run from the motor to my new panel. Does anyone know of a good tach I could hook up instead of a mechanical one. I could get a mechanical cable made that is 10 foot long but I would prefer to use an electric if I could. The engine is a Lycoming O-290 D with dual Bendix magnetos.

You could go electric, but then you'll need a tach generator for you engine. It will generate the required signal for the electric tach.

You'll have to get a generator and tach that are compatable.

I would suggest just getting a longer cable, and stay with the mechanical tach. But that's just me.

You can get either option here:
