Rescue boat: Airboat aided hurricane victims; Unusual boat makes visit

A unique airboat was seen at Jaycee Park on the Fourth of July. In addition to waters of Lake Okeechobee, this airboat has also traveled down Canal Street in New Orleans. Even though Canal Street, in the heart of the central business district of New Orleans, accommodates many types of vehicles, it was not designed for airboats.

The airboat, owned by John Halvorson of Jupiter, was used to rescue victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The airboat was built by Boyde Stossel of West Palm Beach for Mr. Halvorson.

That's a great public relations story for airboats. I especially liked the part where they were measuring the sound level of the boat instead of the noise level. Must have been written by someone who knows and appreciates the unique features of an airboat.
 
Yes it is good PR for the FAA and FSCA, some of the first I've seen for the FAA in some time now. This reporter should be commended on his good reporting and added to the media list for future FAA public relations press releases.
 
Is this Guy a member of Southern Airboat if he is I would like to get him some of the rudder decals we had made for all the folks that went over there with there boats
