Robert Marquis project appreciation!

Today I meet several people that are doing the right thing for all the right reasons. I have learned who has really done what behind the scenes. I never realized Sniper kinda started this whole thing, I also want to state for all of those who started or were involved with this but didn’t toot their own horn or those who haven’t been acknowledged or credited for what they have done. Something very special is happening and I got to see a small part of it today. I have no involvement with this at all, just one phone call and ten minutes of my time at the most! Today I meet some great people doing something great and that doesn’t happen to much in today’s world! So to everybody involved or who has donated, take pride in how much happiness you are about to bring somebody who did the right thing many many years ago that never truly received the recognition he deserved! Now I have a greater appreciation of my fellow airboaters! Good job everyone especially to those who made it happen. And to everyone who I meet today your passion to do the right thing for the right reasons impressed me!

Dave

Much thank to you and your wife for opening your house up to me and letting me stay there so I could work on the boat to day and giving me a ride t Diamondback so I could get the hull sanded, Cowboy and crew the rest of the crew from Diamondback got the engine mounted so the boat is coming along nicely

YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT APPRECATION I SAW IT TODAY IN THE EYES OF MR. BUDS SON AND GRANDAUGHTER AT THE GATOR SHOOT-OUT, THESE FOLKS ARE SO PROUD OF MR. BUD AND OF EVERYONE THAT IS INVOLVED IN HELPING HIM AND YOU COULD SEE AND FEEL THE APPRECATION IN THESE FOLKS TODAY WHEN WE TALKED TO THEM .. I WAS PROUD TO MEET THEM AND TO BE INVOLVED WITH THIS GREAT PROJECT.

Sniper you know you are welcome at my home anytime! One of these day's we need to go riding the St Johns, I'm sure going to try and make the Dec anniversary ride with my new sled!

Dave, it was a pleasure to meet you there at Diamondback yesterday. Hats off for opening your home to Sniper another airboater helping airbaoter.
It's a pleasure to be a small part of a very special effort to give back to a very special airboater. This effort continues to produce allot of positive things for the Marquise's and the airboating community as a whole. Unfortunately in life you have to take the bad with the good. I knew from the very beginning that no matter the end result there would be those left disappointed by it all and questioning this that or the other. To me it was from the beginning and will always be about helping Mr. Bud and Miss Nancy. I hope that they will be happy with the new friends in their lives and all the opportunities that will bring.

When T and I got to Diamondback about 9:30 yesterday, the first person we saw was Cowboy bent over the four cylinder engine mounted on the new engine stand...twisting wrenches. Mike Thurman's work is just really impressive. That little engine is flawless. The racket coming from the rear of the shop was unmistakable..it was a DA sander being worked really hard. Closer inspection revealed Sniper working overhead on the hull and rake, prepping the hull for some new steel flex. Likely the first time that hull has ever been sanded, The dust was thick all around the boat. Sniper looked like the Pillsbury Dough Boy...sold covered in dust. He invested a round trip airplane ticket from Atlanta...not to watch someone else work, but to sand Mr. Bud's hull himself. CaneFan couldn't wait to show off the old trailer that looked good as new...Old School...for certain, like it should be, but First Class. Like DBrewster said, Blood, Sweat and Tears from airboaters to an airboater. SAO members at work. Krystal and Mr. Bud's son with stars in their eyes at Loughman's...Rick taking K for her first addictive ride. A few doing a whole bunch...strong, strong company.

Nice Post'in!

Always been kinda proud to be an airboater.... even before airboats were considered cool.
After seeing what so many airboaters have been doing for Bud... makes me even prouder to be an airboater.

I just wanted to say Good Job and thank you to all that are involved. Looks like everyone had a good time. The generosity of the members of Southern Airboat is incredible. Everything is coming together nicely. Sorry I was not at the event. I spent the afternoon in the marsh. I just needed to get away for a day.

When I was there working on the boat Saturday Cowboy brought up a good point that I had not thought about until then and that was getting the boat back to Bud so he can use, it he said it was real hard on Bud seeing his boat leave the yard at his home a hard core Airboater with out his airboat is like a fish out of water, I know It was real hard for me when Thunder was doing those recent modifications on my boat and it was gone from my house for almost a month kinda like a Cowboy with out his horse. I can't wait to see Buds face when we give him his old boat back all fixed up that will make all of this so worth all the effort that has gone into Mike Thurman and Diamond back have done such an out standing job and I can't wait to see the Prop that Sensenich is building for this boat I'm sure it will be nothing less than out standing and so has been the work by Cowboy and all the other volunteers in putting all the components together

OHHHHH! I want one I had soooo much fun on Sat. I could'nt thank Rick enough that was amazing can't wait to ride again......

Good for you Girl! Glad you were able to get your ride! You see what your Grandpa was so infatuated with all these years now, huh? LOL The frog legs too of course!! :)

Kristal

I WILL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A REAL GOOD TIME ON MY BOAT ON THE 29TH AND WE WILL HAVE A FILM CREW ON THE BOAT WITH AS WELL COVERING THE WHOLE EVENT

I'm sure I don't need to say this ...... just two more cents. :)

When y'all put the new prop on Buddy's boat ? What say we hand the old original prop over to Rick for 'safe keeping' ? It's a bonafide piece of history, and none of this would have been possible without his/this website.

My thoughts .....

olf

Kristal, your enthusiasm is what made the ride special...thanks!

I could tell that ole airboat gene has been passed down to you from your Dad & Grandfather. :)

It was cool to see your fiance's interest in airboats too. One thing that's stuck in my mind is when we were sitting at the Bird Tower and you told him "we've got to get on of these".

When everything settles down and after the holidays, let's get your Dad out again and make a day of it. We'll hit all of our favorite stopping points on the St. Johns.

Thanks,
Rick
