Rocker ratio's, RPM's, Gear ratio's and Props

Still trying to get this Cadi squared away.

I am running a 1.73/1 Stinger and 78" 3 blade Falcon Series. Stinger says that is the wrong gear for that prop. I was wondering if I moved up a 2.38 gear and changed rocker ratio, if that might be the combination I need to make full use of this prop?

I am using the 1.62 rocker ratio now. I think that Potter Automotive offers a 1.72 rocker system that should allow me to run close to 5000 rpm,s.

Anyone outthere using a similar system? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Where do you have your pitch set now?

I bet you can go to the 2.37 ratio and add some pitch to your prop to keep your engine turning close to what it is now so you don't have to turn it up to 5000, and you will get better push too.

Hi Red,

I hanen't any idea what the pitch is. I have the blades set to where the mark is even with the center of the hub. Prior to that setting, I measured 1/8 inch from the mark to the negative and that allowed the engine to reach 4300 or 4400 rpm,s.

I will talk to Potter tommorow about the rockers and then find someone with the proper gage and find out what the prop setting is.

4200 engine rpm with your box and the prop set at the referance mark, is optimun blade push according to ps/ww.

Just talked to Buddy Branch this morning. He really likes the rocker system from Potter Automotive even though he thinks a bit pricey. Buddy says the system I have now is fine. Wednesday he is bringing a timming light, a different tachometer and we are going to do some checking to make sure everything is runnin' right.

Will get the prop set correctly soon I hope, and we'll seen how she performs.
