Rudder spacing

I was wandering , I was going to space my rudders apart enough to maximize my surface area in a turn ,heavy boat , thought that would be best .about 28 inches apart , 4 ft panther rudders .That way surface area is the greatest when turning, Am I barking up the wrong tree .Just trying to get close the first time . Is there . a fomula for this or back of seat deal ,

I put my spacing 25" on the center on all the boats I build and also use classic rudders on my own boat

They don't need to be 28" apart because they will never be completely turned all the way
