Russian Airboat

That is a Vendenyev M14 radial. It has exhaust stracks about 4 inches long!! Did you see the info where it said it would go over 150?

Cowboy,

This time it found me. I was walking through the Mt Dora boat show and it was sitting there with the web site address painted on the side of it. I had heard of it through one of the M14 distributors in the US.

A side note. the Mt Dora police have apparently received a lot of complaints about loud fast boats on the lake. It's the antique race boats that are there for the show, but I am not aware of complaints in the past.

That thing looks like a cross between a crop duster and bullet. There is not doubt it was made for speed.

And for some reason I don't think the Russians were worried about that 90 db at 50 feet.

It would be fun to hit the throttle on that thing.

It has counter-rotating props though, so maybe it's not all that loud.

The bottoms of the rudders go into the water! Neat!

I saw this thing in person, the props go the same way, sort of like a turbo warp drive.

it is at the broward county airboat show currently, i saw it yesterday alittle surprising considering i had just read about it for the first time 2 hours earlier !!!!

i asked the owner how fast he has had it.....he said he has only had it in the water like one time and that he was more concerned about it floating, than any performance at this point...he said that he's been restoring it for years...he estimated so far he has spent around $250,000. he also said that the radial thats currently on it is not the original. original is being worked on or rebuilt.
