Hey Scotty, hows that new rig coming along?
give us some more pictures, it gives me inspiration
The kids are finally out on their own, bills are getting
whittled down little by little. The airboat is coming
I can already smell it.

Ok folks, I haven't got much more done on the boat. I have been working on the ham radio station and then on my server. The good news is that my server is back up with the new Gallery2 software.

Ill be posting new pics soon. Right now I'm still getting things loaded back on it. Just beginning the airboat pictures as I'm writing this.

By the weekend I should be back working on the airboat and Ill take pictures as it moves forward.

As of now the seat package is together. Next is mounting it and adding the expanded metal, throttle pedal, rudder stick and lights. The Insturment panel is mostly done. I cant get my laythe to start so when I get time Ill fix it and turn the adapter plate from the small diameter tach to the larger hole.

More to come.

Ok, I'm slowly getting caught up, I went and mounted the seat package last night. I'll have a few images this evening. Hey it looks a lot more like progress with the seat package bolted on.

In the progress front, I finally got off my butt and bought a 200 Amp Mig welder and got some instruction from my boy and wella, I can mig weld now. I had bad experiences previously with mig but was easy for me to tig weld. Just took maybe 3 minutes and once I saw what was going on it all connected and I too can turn out those pretty non penetrating beads :)

Instead of CO2 the kid had me buy a gas called Stargon. Sounds like a mix of Argon and something else. I had heard to use CO2 on steel but this seems to work sweet. We built a roll around cart for the welder and the gass bottle, loaded it all on the cart and forgot to grease the axles and bearings on the coasters & wheels so it pushes as easy as a D-8 Cat. Have to unload it and grease them things.

Anyway progress is back and Ill have a few pics this evening.

Its a really really old industrial machine but an hour of maintanance and she welds like a new one.

Thanks mood

Ok here are the pictures. In the pictures the package isn't drilled and bolted to the boat yet. You can see the vice grips clamping the front legs to the boat.

So far she is perfectly square & everything is in its proper place. it will be Sunday or Monday before I have a chance to do much more.

Still debating triangulating the front legs to another point on the package. It is really strong like it is, I can yank the boat around all over the trailer with it. My concern is will it hold my weight and a passenger when we come to the dry stuff or more importantly the super sticky stuff and she comes to a halt in her own length. Just haven't decided yet. It can be added anytime before paint so its not a pressing decieion point.

Muffler spacing and room is however critical indeed !

Scotty, consider this, what if you were to bring a brace up from
the lower end of each front strut meeting at the front center of the
foot stand, that would give you triangle bracing front to rear,
and side to side while only adding two short sticks of tubing.
and maybe just maybe a short brace on each side from below
the rear seat down to a midway point on the outside front
struts on the engine stand. that should stiffen the crap out of it
without adding to much more weight. just a though. looks great
any way you go.

Good thinking K-mac, Ill clamp some in place and see how it goes first. If I like it Ill mig them in.
