Sensenich Q noise

For those of you who have a Sensenich Q prop do you notice a whistling noise when its idling. I have always ran wood props and just installed a Sensenich Q on my boat. Everything sounds good I just wondered if the whistling was normal.

Crabby, I've wondered if rounding-off the leading edge of the tips just a little wouldn't stop that ....... :?: .

Yup, I personally don't find that little whistle offensive, but anytime you can make a prop quieter it should help with the sound signature.

Maybe Dr. Spud or PTR34 will comment later. They work for Sensenich.

I have never noticed a whistle from mine and I did round the tips if my blades just a little bit so maybe that took care of it or maybe it the sound of that Waterthunder masterpiece that powers it that hides the sound of the whistle :D

You guys with them Thundermotors make me sick .... .

Good for you George, and you might be right about that. I think if Sensenich is willing to do it, I'll have them round mine just a little
to experiment. It would look cool anyway. 8)

As everyone knows there is all ways a drawback to every design, and the one drawback to the Q-series is that on some not all installations they do have this whistle and that comes from the way we designed it to be a quieter prop and unloading the tip caused the prop to have somewhat of that sound. Sorry to the people that do not like it, in the beginning we did play with the tip straight out of the mold and it really did not make that much of a difference. We were kind of mad at first but the more we sold the more people that seemed to not have a problem with it I guess performance kept them happy.

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH SNIPER , IM SURE HE CANT HEAR NOTHING FROM THE PROP WITH THAT CARMOTOR KNOCKING AND SPARKIN , VALVES RATTLING AND TICKING . NOT TO MENTION THE TORQUE-CURVE UP-DATES COMING THREW THE HEAD SET EVERY FIVE MINUTES !!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

.....LOL........JUST PLAYING BUD ...YOU LEFT YOUR BACK DOOR WIDE-OPEN FOR THAT ONE..... YOU NO US A/C GUYS ARE ALWAYS WATCHING AND WAITING TO POUNCE......

SERIOUSLY ON THE Q SERIES , I ONLY HAD WOOD ALSO BEFORE I GOT A Q AND THE 1ST TRIP OUT MINE CHANGED SOUNDS 2 OR 3 TIMES AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME , I KEEP PULLING OVER CHECKING BLADES , I THOUGHT SHE WAS COMING APART.....LOL....BUT YOU GET USED TO IT , MINE IDLES SMOOTH AS HECK PERFORMS GREAT I CAN LIVE WITH A WHISTLE NOW AND THEN...

I've only had my Q for a short time and I don't notice the whistle. The thing I do know is it is so quiet compared to the wood and Warp Drive props I've had in the past. They sure got this one right. Boy, does it push too.

Sniper, I thought you had an S prop on that big car motor. I think a lot of folks refer any swept tip as a Q but it isn't the same prop. The R & S are different animals with a similar design.

Thanks Guys, I personally liked it but just wanted to make sure it was normal. It sure beats my old wood prop on my old boat. Now I can't wait for Saturday to drop it in the water and see how it performs. On a different note I'm glad I'm waiting til Saturday since I did a total rupture of my rotator cuff on Tuesday night.
Crabby, you still coming Saturday?
