We have a gm iron head 383 91/2 to 1 stock rods and a voodoo 280/480 cam. Predator carb single plane intake. This is a cheap motor we pulled out of the mud jeep for a back up while the machine shop takes there sweet time. It is turning out to run pretty good. I wish i could have done one thing at a time but time work and pregnant wife does not permit. So you go with a combo you think will work and go for it . Started off with small 2 1/2in ss headers cheap quiet mufflers that are really restrictive ( the inlets broke out in three trips!) Had a 268 3bl 74in falcon and was snappy! 30deg.of timing It would turn 5500 max pitch. 5800 on neutral. Gave it 2 more degree's and put some open sprint car headers 3in and bigger primaries and it turned 6000 on neutral and 6500 with a 150 shot. the angle on the headers was off for running flex and ex. So today we put a nice set of long tube headers from GTO 3in and muf. We put a 80in Max 2bl on neutral turned it 5850. haven't sprayed it or taken it to the water but this setup seams to be better. It may have responded to the long tubes? but it was jumping! we are going to put more pitch in it just decided to start at n. also this motor has a eagle cast steel replacement crank in it and was not balance to the piston and rods. we tried out that rattler harmonic balancer and the motor is smooth as can be? this is a little fun we been havin thought i would share :)

30 DEGREES??? I didn't think you can go that far according to Bob Hoover. I had My 3 blade 78" Falcon set a 16 degrees and Bob said that about as far you want to go. But he said I think that I could go a scoch further.

I was talking about timing sorry. We have a digital 6 box with retard mod. so we pulled 6 deg away for the nos. We didn't set it with a digital protractor. I was calling full pitch 5/16 past the mark?
