anyone run or heard negatives or positives about silver dollar boats? I'm not looking for one just curious.

I HAVE ONE. BEING MY FIRST BOAT,IT,S HARD FOR ME TO RATE IT. MINE IS A 15X8 SBC WITH AN OLDER 3 BLADE WHIRLWIND. THE BOAT IS WELL MADE,DEEP HULL,BUT HEAVY. I RUN ON A SHALLOW,SANDY RIVER,SO I NEED A TOUGH BOAT. I AM DISAPPOINTED HOW IT WON,T RUN WELL ON SAND OR ON THE HILL,SOME OF IT MAY BE THE OPERATOR. I AM CONSIDERING CHANGING PROPS. I NEED A LITTLE MORE SEAT TIME TO TELL. HOPE THIS HELPS.

beebelawn, if you're looking for a tough boat that will perform check out American Airboats in Orange, Texas. Granted, they are heavier than diamondbacks or hamants but, they are built like a tank and are not too heavy. i'm not trying to push for American but if you were interested in silver dollar boats i assume you're looking for a bigger, stronger work boat as opposed to the lighter Florida styles. i have the 13 x 8 with a SV 540 and it performs great. i can run dry fully loaded and it holds up. i jump several 4 foot levees and muskrat beds and i don't even have to worry about it. but, my engine probably would perform better on a lighter built boat.

Good luck if you order one, I think the turnaround is about 1 yr. LOL. He builds a strong boat but the customer service is bad, not that he is a bad guy, just doesn't answer the phone> I know he is pushing the 383 stroker hard on 18x8 boats, said he took his 572 off on a 20x8 and put the 383 on.

Are you talking about American Airboats ??????

Faron will go way out of his way to make folks happy and I have never heard of him not returning a call. I am hopeing I misunderstood who you are talking about. I highly recommend American Airboats and Faron as a manufacturer.

I hear you Ron, I always wonder why alumitech doesn't get the credit they deserve. Although they are steadily buildin boats and don't appear to be slowin down any. They are one fine boat and will customize it any way you want and they run ground excellent and the same hull will run deep rough water Oh well They are happy and it keeps the wait times down to about 6 weeks for a hull or 12 weeks for a complete airgator.

But they are truly innovators in the industry and really listen to you and will tell you if what you want is lookin like it won't work for you. GREAT GUYS OVER THERE.

I run a silver dollar boat,it has been a good boat. It's a 18x8 with a 502. Yes it could be lighter, but it's build strong. Yes Harold is very hard to get anything out of these days. I looked at American airboat and they build a very nice boat, their welders are fist rate. I wish when I went to TX. that Faron would have been there to talk to. I think Red River airboat are guys that used to work at Silver Dollar. Dave at Alumitech has been alot of help to me. I just wish they were alot closer. BMF23 where is God's country?

The Silver Dollar and the Red River sure look alot alike...hull design and alum. cage....
The Silverdollar boats have been around a few years too...

Really close not to have similar lineage...

Anyway they look like a Higgins boat (landing craft) from WWII,
I'll bet they are HEAVY duty.

The boats depicted on Red Rivers sight look to be seriously heavy duty and all Aluminum constriction makes an impressive looking boat. The term "brick schitt-house" has application here.
