Site supporter - how to become?

Canuk

Well-known member
I really enjoy reading and learning from all the folks and informative posts here on the forum.
I'm trying to figure out how to sign up and contribute, but when I view the sign up page it doesn't offer an oppty for a Canadian to donate.

The first line of the sign up page has a box called "country = United States" with no drop down box to select Canada.

Although we talk funny most of us are ok eh, how does a fella get by this to sign up?

Canuck

On the left, underneath your "name" you'll see a link highlighted in blue that says Southern Airboat Member......click on that and follow the directions on the page that pops up.

Adam

Thanks Adam, although I got there a different way it eventually takes me to the same screens for information that I am having trouble with.

On the next screen you are asked to click a button to donate, (click)....the next screen asks for all your name & info. It is at this screen where it automatically fills in the country field as United States and won't let me change it.

Maybe it doesn't matter ..not sure? Funny, it is usually harder to get money than to give it away.

HMMMM.......I went there and I see what you mean about the country. I'm not a PAY Pal expert so Rick or somebody who knows more about it can maybe answer your question. Maybe it's because that's where the site is so that's where the money is going????????? I don't know.

Good luck and thanks for wanting to help out!

Canuk,
I've met a lot of Canadians over the years in my line of work and made a lot of Canadian friends, and never met a single one that wasn't an awesome person. I've got a few friends down around Toronto, but none north.
Even know some folks that live as far west as Edmonton.

I just never was able to drink your Canadian beer!

That far north, do you guys have the airboats for riding the ice?

Mine is the only air boat in the area, in fact most people around here haven't even seen one before. They also now know what they sound like...they stopped complaining about the noise of seadoo's if you know what I mean.
This time of year I am almost the only person living on my lake so the noise doesn't bother anyone.

I live on an island and I'm stuck here during freeze up/thaw so I looked for a way across the lake. The air boat seems to be the perfect match plus it is a lot of fun.

I also have a Hoovercraft kit that I am going to experiment with but something is telling me I'm going to get better performance out of the air boat.

Ok after looking at everything I can get into, Mods dont have the access to edit the script. it could he hard coding in "C" or who knows how it is done. Might even be some JAVA involved. It is possible that even Rick can't change that.

In the mean time you can just leave it as US then make everything else correct. Maybe put Canada after the city with no comma. Pay Pal on the other hand is international and should have no such coding oversights.

If a problem persists, Rick will be able to figure out something. I'm just surprised its gone this long without this coming up. Im going to try to call pay pal and see if they will talk to me.

We will find a resolution.

Canuk:
Pay Pal tried it by logging into SA and it appears that you do not have a Pay Pal Account. Mary at Pay Pal said you should create a Pay Pal account at PayPal.com and see if THAT allows you to select Canadian at that point, then, when you click the button here you will simply log into YOUR Pay Pal account as you normally would for any other use.

Maybe we need to try to streamline this some. Try that and see if it works for you. I will talk with Rick on the phone ( when he gets back) about my conversation with Pay Pal and see if he/they were aware of this and if it is a problem with currency exchange or something similar.

At this point I suggest trying Mary's suggestion and see if it makes it work for you.

BlackPowderScout, not trying to jump in front of ya man, you were helping first before I ever saw it. I'm just trying to help you help a member :) I have made NO changes in any setups Rick has or had, just working the system to find a way to make things happen.

Scotty

Sorry for all the fuss, I sure didn't want to see everyones Sunday go down the tubes especially working on IT stuff.
When I went back to start the Pay Pal process I noticed the good old fashion send a cheque option, now that's more my speed.

Cheque will be in the mail when I go to town later this week.

Thanks for all the help folk's.
Neil

Send a Check works also. However we do need to look at this issue and find exactly what is happening, you may not be the only one thats seen this, maybe the only one to bring it to our attention.

We'll be looking for your check :)

Scotty

Sorry about that Canuk. My mistake...I accidentally had PayPal setup to block non US payments. I think I've got it fixed now if you want to try again.

Thanks to everybody trying to help.

Rick

Scotty, you didn't jump in front of me.........I was gone the rest of the day anyhow at work. I wouldn't have been any more help anyhow.

Glad to see it's all working out though.
