Took the blue step for a spin last sat. fuel at the Sunoco, located off US27 went up to $ 4.45 a Gal.....I almost kilt the owner. He tells me, well A/V is only 1% of my buss, this is as i was buying....beer, ice, food etc....well he got to keep it all...cause i left

The Indians located on the Trail are at $ 3.90 a Gal.

Anyone know of other placed,,seems like if we get tognether, maybe well have some barganing power.

The north side by L-28 water is sure high, Like 3' foot deep at the swimming hole ...nice ride though.

when checking prices some small strips will not bring down the price untill they can empty and re stock there tanks

In florida they can't sell gas for less than they pay for it so if they bought it high they have to sell it high. Now maybe they can match competitors prices on gas if they have too in case of price spikes like we have had I don't know for sure. The law was writt3en to prevent big companies from driving independents out of business with a gas war ... so they claim.

Just under $3.00 over here.

Cntry - same here, maybe not a law, but the big guys have too much overhead. The little guys however, sometimes to have to buy it when high and then have to sell it high to keep making profit.

mwood - good site, thanks, found a cheaper spot just alittle further away. Will have to see if they will let someone fill a 55 barrel.

Theres a station on Weston road near arvida parkway that sells it, im going tomm and will report on there price....
Gonna take me another ride, behind the club, south side of the trail

Just used the gas checker, and found a palce in

North Perry airport in Pembrooke Pines is selling AV GAS for $3.85 a gallon. Spoke to Jim on the phone today and he said they are airboat friendly. As of this past weekend the Exxon in Weston still did not have AV GAS.

I have been buying A/V from the North Perrry(hollywood) airport, take 6 gal cans, you cant drive to pump, its on the tarmak,,.about 70 feet walk,,,.....easy to use self serv pump....the sunoco in us-27,,the guy in nuts at $ 4.85 a gal.....told him he can keep his a/v, and other beverages i buy there on way out. The Oplocka airport sells it for 3.35,,but its a pain to get into,,and fire marshal is next door,,,,,no cans,,just in boat,,,,

GSO480,

I spoke to Jim on the phone and he said bring the boat, and he will open the gates so I can fill the boat and my 15 gal gas cans. I am gonna ride over there Wed and fill up. I will let you know what happened.

Just got back from Hollywood Aviation. (South side of North Perry Airport)I went inside talked to the lady at the desk reguarding pulling the airboat onto the tarmac and filling up with AvGas and she said no problem. They always let airboats pull in and fill up. Price of AvGas was $3.69 for cash and $3.79 for credit card. She also told me they are open 24/7 for gas, the only catch is after hours you have to walk to the pump and fill up your cans.

That's odd how down south the gas stations are way higher than the airports and up here in Central Florida its the opposite. :?

At MLB ya gotta have an Airpoort ID badge to even get on the tarmac. Rethinking whether to bother with an aircraft engine now. More TSA and Homeland Security hoax . Sigh

Scotty

Remember WhiteBear, not all aircraft engines HAVE to run AVGAS. Many were designed to run high test pump gas (91/93) and some even low grade (87).

Adam

Yup I think all the 200s though need 100/130LL Maybe there were some STCs for the 180s that had 7.5:1 ratio to run autogas. I remember seeing 160s tank up on High Test at gas stations but they need LEAD.

I know theres lead substitutes out there. It's just become one huge hassle.

Scotty

Scotty,

There are a couple of alternatives. Both race gas and AV gas have long shelf lives. You could buy a barrel and mix enough in with 93 to make it run right.

Ot you could buy an LS1 thunder motor and run on 93. I don't know what he is charging for the 450 now, the last time I checked it was $5500.

Fortunately I dont have to decide right now. I can even build me another 455 buick and use a belt redrive instead of DD, or another LT1 and a belt redrive. The buick is around 360 HP and thats way more than enough. Just hopeing to stay light with aircraft. You might have the idea there with a couple of 55 gallon drums.

I could mount a tank in the back of the truck to gass up the boat from too.

Could be the only soultion.

Scotty

If I remember correctly the LS1 with gear reduction weighs a little more than an O540 and a little less that an O520, so it compares with the 6 cylinder aircraft with way more power.
