Any Pros & Cons on this, I heard they run a lot quieter that way. Also heard they push a little better. wonder if you lose any snap that way? Do you still set them all to the same degree or is the inner and outer set different?
Ihad one a fresh straight valve 540 it was a 72inch staggered 6 blade.it was the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen.and you do set the leading and trailing blades different.you out one more degree in the trailing than the leading.I took it off and out a 72 inch Q series and it has more snap and push than any warpdrive could ever have
I Ran a 84"six blade turbo tech set at 10 degrees in the front and 14 degrees on the back for quite a while and found the sound of it to be less annoying than the standard warp drive with about 10 % increase in thrust . I replaced that prop with a 80" 8 blade 8 degrees in the front and 12 degrees in the back and found that the thrust the same but the tone of the propellor was differant .Replaced a friends 72" 5 blade warp drive with a 72" turbo 6 blade on a 500 dd cadillac 5 degrees front and 8 degrees backand picked up 15% more thrust with a sound change (no weedeater). The folks at Classic suggest 2 degree differance in pitch from front to back blades .I have found that 4 degrees sounds better it seems that as the pitch gets tighter that there is some cavitation noise that develops. I have also ran whril winds and wood props on my boat and have Tested a lot of other props on other boats and while it is not the quietest of the bunch It is my favorite prop.
Hey cntry how about a 24 blade turbo tech behind that 3.12 stinger, what ya reckon it do?
I took my 6 blade turbo off and went to a 2 blade and it has better push for the area we run than that 6 blade. so it depends on what you are looking for. the turbo is alot quiter than a regular that is for sure!
No i sold it all. but classic said the plates are only $300.00 than all you need is the hardware for the blades but if you have a warp drive you have most of it
Spoke with Bud Bell today about putting on the 6 blade turbo warp drive & he said he didn't think a 0540 would turn it efficently enough! Any inputs or anyone with experience with this on a 0540 Straight Valve ?
A good strong 0540 straight valve engine will perform well with a 6 blade warpdrive. Have used 5, 6 and 8 blade. All work good...have to say my favorite is the 5 blade. Haven't tried the turbo setup yet...soon
