Stinger gearbox disassembly

Anyone have issues getting the output flange pulled off the shaft on a stinger gear box? Buddy of mine has a bearing gone bad . Tried a bolt puller and a little heat and she didn't budge

You need lots of heat.. In my experience you need that flange to be around 350 degrees to get it off. Your trying to heat the flange without heating the shaft so the flange expands around the steel shaft. The problem is the steel shaft sucks up the heat your trying to put on the flange so it can be a battle to get it off. Try using a hand held propane torch. You want to heat that flange up fast so the shaft doesn't have time to suck the heat out of the flange and expand as the flange does.

We use this in the HVAC field to keep heat away from critical components when torching stuff, (there are dozens of different brands and I even saw one on the HD website) heat sink paste.

Might give it a try like Smuggler said above to keep the heat off the shaft.
