I have been looking at the holly 142 blowers for an SBC and can't seem to find one with an intake that firs vortec heads. Does anyone have experiance with these and why can't you get one for a vortec?

Josh,

The Vortecs use a 8-bolt configuration on the manifold, that point straight down like a Ford, unlike the most conventional SBC pattern that is 12 bolts and perpendicular to the intake face (Some mid 80-up SBs had varying angles on the center 4, but we won't get into that here). But luckily for you, the intake face angle on the Vortec heads is the same as all Chevy SBs and all you have to do is drill and tap the heads 3/8-16 with the conventional pattern, and you'll be good to go. If you don't wanna do this yourself, any decent machineshop can do it for you. If you don't have any luck, I'll be happy to hook you up.

So, whatever your induction choice....Don't be swayed by interchangability too much.

Thanks for the help. I am running a stock 330 crate motor, is there anything special I should know before doing this.
