Thanks anyway

moodfood,

To my kowledge the state park closes/locks the front gate at 9 pm like all other state parks. Why not go to Camp Mack. (1/4 mile further down the road) clean showers, airboat friendly, rv and rental cabins, laundry, pool and more.

We've been there four or five times now and fell in love with the camp and it's atmosphere of good people.

Lake Kissimmee State Park is closed to airboats. Both canals, the one from Rosalie and the one from Kissimmee, have big "Airboats Prohibited" signs. Camp Mack or Thomas Landing are much better choices anyway.

They're right. Camp Mack or Thomas Landing would be your best bets if you can't do the primitive thing. Are you wanting to ride the edge of the lake or go into the marshes?

Camp Mack is MUCH closer to the marsh than Thomas Landing, however there is probably going to be a lot more traffic in and out too. The lady that owns Thomas Landing( I can't remember her name  ) is SUPER nice and the place doesn't look half bad either. Check out the websites for both for better info.

Also, Port Hatchineha offers tent camping I believe but they've recently remodeled their dock and is definitely not the best launch site for airboats especially if more than two boats are in the water at a time.

How about River Ranch Resort? Aren't they right there? Good food, nice lodging or camping, very airboat friendly. I guess the only draw back would be the lock on the river to go north??? Also they may be booked this time of year?

I'm not 100% sure but I think the river is closed to boat traffic right now. At least I heard the ramps were all closed. I wouldn't ride the river now anyway, the water is too high and too fast. They've opened the locks I've been told.

If you do decide to ride into the marsh and even the lakeshore for that matter...watch out for fence posts!!! We were out Friday night and the fences were under water. I'd imagine the water has come down some but still keep your eyes open.

I was out there all day Saturday, and the water was the highest I've ever seen it. Even after the hurricanes last year, the water was only a bit higher than it is now. It was still an excellent ride though. I think they were having a Cottonmouth Owners party at Camp Mack. When I pulled my boat out, there were almost a dozen different Cottonmouths either putting in or beached waiting to ride.
