Back in the late sixties and early seventies I use to coonhunt off of loop road. I remember a bar/store on the East end of the loop a few miles off hwy 41. Most of the hunting we did was inside the loop about 3 or 4 miles down from Monroe station on the west side of the loop. I remember many a day stepping off loop road folliowng the dogs and not see dry ground again till we got back to loop road. Back in those days you couldn't carry a gun at night with a gun when you coonhunted and we had to climb the trees and knock the coon out. A set of climbing spurs and a telescoping aluminum pole was the tools of the trade.

Bad news about Ellisons Camp in 3a, nothing left but the dock
after a couple of hurricanes and many years of neglect the old camp is gone

What Ellison's are they? There are some Ellison's in the Ocala area that were from down south. They names were Bob and Bobby. They have both passed away in recent years. I bought my first boat from Bob. It was a10ft aluminum hul with a Covair motor on it. That was in the early 80's
