The keys 18 mile stretch!

Trying to figure out why we can't run some of the area on the West side of the 18 mile stretch Some place do a good job of posting but there are many areas that go for miles with no fence or No Trespassing signs. Any body got some info on this area?

you can run it, and I did run it years ago. It is a small WMA can't remember the name. I parked right off the stretch just on the N side of the canal.We encountered some rocks, but it was pretty cool riding. My friend has since moved from the keys, or else I'd have you give him a call.

Thanks for the response Rich. I always thought it was part of the Everglades National Park, but the more I think about it you would have to go pretty far west to get into the park. Are you North or South of the Boys detention center?

Here is the link to the area you are talking about....make sure to read the rules...if I remember correctly you could only airboat in a couple of areas at certain times of the year??

Is this the area near the Airjet canal? I was involved in constrtructing the transmission powerline along the 18 mile stretch and we staged our equipment along that canal. We were told at the time that the water control structures there were the dividing point between salt/fresh water.
