Things in the Bow

Was seating around thinking I know that is scary  I do that once in a while

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting some great guys and riding Kissimmee with them, while dry loading my boat it got stuck right at the trailer  try again same thing well third time was a charm I got it loaded. While talking to Dudley when rebuilding my trailer he told me that Joe ( the guy with the pretty boat ) :p said I had to much weight in the bow so I pulled everything out and said no way so I weight it.

 Well he was right I was carrying a dead body with me 225lbs. of things I thought I needed to carry now it only 30 lbs.

Thank you Dudley and Joe

Just Thinking Out Loud

Dark, I'm convinced that it's the humidity that does that. You can put a couple little ol' things in the boat, and in less than a month it'll GROW. :?

Good idea to weigh it Darkwader...you just don't realize how much all that stuff weighs.

I ain't throwing out the sardines though. :)

Another thing that really helps when dry loading is have a length of 6" PVC a little wider than the boat. Set it on the ground about half a boat length away from the trailer and it will help you roll right up on the trailer.

But you def did the right thing cutting down on the weight. We probably all have some stuff in the boat we don't really need

Somebody told me a long time ago to load up with everything you think you need........then, cut it in half. After that, you can travel with ease.

This is lame !

When you have to carry a length of pvc pipe with you to load your boat on the dry.....your boat wont run dry....look for another setup....the one ya got ain't working!

Grant, you're lame if you think my boat won't run dry

The pvc works whether you thought of it or not

Red,

I will be sure and call you if I ever need a pvc pipe to load my boat!

I am sure you carry plenty with you :)

I will be caught empty handed....I have never needed a crutch to load my boat!

Grant

Whew, cool down boys.

Red, I'm with you on the PVC, I've got a 8' length of it in my boat.

You never know where, how, or what kind of ground is where somebody is loading. Take it easy y'all. Some boats have attributes that others don't have.

I have pvc bolted to the runners of my trailer with a nice dove tail. with poly on the boat when you hit the trailer. you better have your hane on the ol $!@* handal.

It makes unloadin easy. If you back down a ramp you don't unhook the boat till you get to the water.

I,ve got who knows what in my boat. ( maybe thats why I can't run dry a lot)

I'm gettin ready to try something I read about on another site some time back.
My old hull has steelflex on the bottom and my trailer runners are plain old treated wood 2X8's.

This site said to go get some paraffin wax, the kind you make candles out of, heat it up in a pot, and then paint that melted wax onto your runners.
He said the wood will soak it up at first, but that the runners will last for years afterward and that the boat will slide right off.

I'm gonna try it.

It will slide right of, right in the middle of I-10 and loop 610 east side of Houston. Cable broke!! When the airboat came by me, I knew it was a bad day. I could get all the Johnson furniture past wax that I wanted.

rbjscott, if you think it will work that well then I'm definitely gonna have to try it.
I've got good tiedowns already. :)
