Throttle pedal issues

Hey Guys,
I recently replaced my throttle pedal assembly and cable. The old pedal was bent and binding up. The new assembly I put on worked great the first few times we rode then it started binding up not bad it of course only seems to do it when I need the power.
I looked at the linkage and it appears to pull straight to the carb linkage, but when it binds it appears to do it with the pedal linkage like half throttle, any ideas what else to check, my return spring on the carb is a little stiff maybe a lighter return spring?
I need to fix this, I dont want to be on the bottom somewhere in the river !!!!
Thanks
Jim

If possible ,attach your throttle return spring closer to the fulcrum
on the throttle lever. about half way between the cable and the shaft.
this will give you twice as much leverage on your pedal as your
return spring. I've found that two weak return springs work better
and give you some backup. You don't want more than it takes
to pull the throttle closed.

my old boat the pedal bent up and was reinforced around the mount and pedal linkage I figured it bent because of my bad leg I push with my heel and can't always feel it until the boat reacted . the new boat has a home made steel shaft pedal with big washer for surface in front seat and the back seat (mine) has a finger throttle

WHAT KIND OF CARBURATOR DO YOU HAVE? I HAVE AN AIRCRAFT AND THERE IS A LINKAGE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CARB THAT RUSTED ON MINE BECAUSE WATER SETTELS THERE

Thanks for all the help everyone, turns out the bind was in the butterfly linkage inside the throttle barrel. The shaft had a bur inside the housing that it rests in. I took off the carb and partially dis assembeled the butterfly shaft and filed the bur off this was on a M-A-4-5 carb with the internal accelerator pump .
