My question is about vacuum advance.I've been told two different stories what is correct thing to do?Should I advance my distributor and not run vacuum .or should i set my timing correctly and run the vacuum advance?it's a 4.3 L GM with stock H.E.I?Figured this would be the place to get it straight.Thanks![/b]

You definitely don't want to run a vacuum advance. Just set your total timing. You can leave it on there just cap it off. If you list ALL the specs on the boat like size, make, gear box or not, if gear box what ratio and WaterThunder will probably post what it should be set at. He told me how to set mine up at what to set it at and it runs GREAT :D Here is a thread that discusses it in detail http://www.southernairboat.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3860&highlight=vacuum+advance Hope this helps

Remove the vacuum advance and install a spring kit and set your total timing at 31 to 32! The higher the ratio the more timing you can utilize! If it's a DD or a heavy boat or a 2to1 or less go with 31 or so degree's. If you have a 2.38 or a 2.68 or a smaller boat start at 34 degrees!

thanks fellas I knew i would get the answers here!THIS SITE IS COOLER THAN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PILLA!wish I would have found it sooner!
