Ok, I got my hull, next step is get a trailer made.

How big of an axle do I need?

Boat is 14' glass with a small block Chevy. Rigging will be stainless with a pancake cage.

Check out their surelube system. You will never have to repack or replace a bearing again:

most airboat trailers have about 100 inch drop axles with 3500 pound drop axle spindles, if you make your axles you can do it springs hubs and all for about 200 dollars but it is sometimes hard to find the drop axle spindles without having to order them.

I alway just pick up trailer parts when I am p in Ga for National trailer supply in forsyth Ga you could just check aroun for moblie home axles if you want to go that wide. I don't know if your close to PSl but if you is and need help welding it up or something give me a shout

I got a old used u haul car dollie and cut it up and used the drop axel out of it and widened it to fit my boat those axels tubes are 3/8 in thick and have a nice drop that is braced well it holds my 14 ft boat with no problem.

Does anyone know what an airboat weighs?

I'm guessing maybe 4 or 500 pounds for the hull :?

It really depends on your hull some of the glass one will weight abit more the alum once you know what thickness it is you can figure the materials and get a good idea but the best thing is to go to the truck stop and weigh your empty trailer then go back and weight boat & trailer, subtract the trailer weight and you have the weight of the boat. our motor is where you get the real weight form

if your still figureing your trailer a standard 3500lb axle will do the job no problem

I don't have a trailer, that's why I'm trying to figure this out.

I dont want to use a 3500 pound axle if the boat weighs 1200 pounds; then I could just use a 2500 pound, hence this thread........
