Trapping Agent License/Permit

I am currently waiting on the arrival of my agent permit/license that was purchased over the phone. What I need to know is what am I allowed to do if I go with a trapper before the license gets here? I know I can't touch the gator in any way or assist with the gator but would I be in violation if all I did was operate the boat? I have a friend who has a trapper permit but his boat is out of service and wants me to take him with my boat Friday night. I dang sure don't want to be in violation. Thanks!

s an agent you can assist in helping harvest the alligator. There was a big discussion in one of the FWC classes on alligator harvesting about a third party riding along, the third party with no agents permit cannot assist in any of the activitys as far as touching the animal or any equipment, but can hold a light or drive the boat. Holding the agents permit you can assist.

As a party who has already got two and involved in attending a court date due to the trapper not taging the alligator upon harvesting I am currently trying to resolve a violatiion with the FWC. Please read my Thread on " Please tag"

You might call Harry Dutton at AMU in Tallahassee to get a straight answer. He's in your gator hunting handbook in the Tallahassee FWC office.
I would like to hear more on the tagging ticket. If you have time call me at 813-220-6854.
Thanks,
PW

When you purchase a Agent license the license Dept will ask you when you want the license to start, if you tell them that very day you will get a tempoary # to use until the hard copy comes in the mail. If you tell them to start it another date then you will probably have to wait until it arrives. I purchase all of my hunters Agent license over the internet and we hunt that very day or night with the copy we print off the screen. Call the License Dept back and ask them to give you a Temp # so you can hunt. They will have all that on record. Drivng the boat is ok without an Agent license, the minute you get involved your in violation, and that's a fine line when you have an officer sitting there watching you.

I asked when purchasing the agent license and was told I could not use the temporary number. I did write it down though. I first tried to purchase online and used today's date as the start date but I got an error stating that the date range was incorrect. That's when I decided to handle it over the phone.

so when your buddy has an 11 ft er on the line yanking him off the boat don't lend a hand(because you don't have a 50$ trapper license). But, you can pull a deer out of the woods to help someone(without a license), you can gaff a fish without a license to help someone, BUT WE NEED YOUR 50 BUCKS before you can help harvest a gator with a guy who already paid 275 BUCKS for his license. Let's promote safe alligator hunting by ourself if our licensed trapper can't make it...

Hey Rich someone has to protect the cooler to keep the beverages safe from a tail strike. :D

J,

They (license vendor) were incorrect all you need is the those two numbers as gatorchasor said. The other option is call Harry and have him fax you a copy. Good luck.

we use extra bungees during lizard season to keep the beverages safe! You should too. No trapper license needed for extra bungees to hold down an unruly cooler.
