Tried a Whirlwind today

Took the Warp off and bolted on a friend's 70" 2 blade Super Snapper.

The name is a little misleading, as it doesn't have the snap the Warp Drive does.

However, it felt like it pushed real good and it was maybe 2/3 as loud as the Warp.

Set on 18 degrees, I was able to turn it 3000 RPM

I has that low growl like a wood prop.

Still looking to try somebody's Q Series and see if it will have the snap I'm looking for.

If you could have choked it down to 2700 rpm it would have been even more quiet. I ran my stump puller at 2900 for a short time. It was loud to me so I added pitch and run it at 2600 wide open and it pushes awsome and is a ton quieter than my wood paddle prop I used to run.

By the way... My other boat has a Sensenich Q series and it is a bunch quieter than my Whirl wind... but I think my Whirlwind pushes harder or the same... and the Whirlwind was almost $300 less.

How about the throttle response?

Believe me, I've got my eye on the difference in price

its better than the wood paddle.... but I've never tried a warp drive. I think that the warp turns up faster becase its less mass to get going. I think the q series turns up faster than my whirlwind but I have a lot more pitch on my whirlwind to keep the sound level lower.

Your not going to find another prop that will come close in snap response like the warp drive prop. If you like the snap stick with the warp drive.

On DD car motors or smaller A/C motors a Warp Drive acts like a loose torque converter it let's the motor rev up before locking down. They work great on DD's because the motor can aproach it's RPM range before it's load becomes too heavy.

warp drive works best on light rigs, any horsepower! Don't care for their performance on heavy boats. When used in the right application i think they beat anything out there, durability wise. love the low end push on the Powershift and Whirlwind, but haven't had much luck getting any life out of either. Have had serious vibration problems with all hollow props approching 3000 rpm! I am totally convinced watching the posts here that I no nothing about "airboats" so consider this my opinion only.

So Red, Would that 6 blade warp drive be enough for my boat? I tried to buy that 72" sensenich with no luck and then the 76" 4 blade stump puller. I'm starting to get a complex. Next thought is a 72" or 74" new Whirlwind 2 blade Stump puller or 3 blade super snapper or? :?

Hey COLD-EH' sorry about that 4 blade but it sounds like you have a DD or a A/C which my 4 blade wouldn't have work. It's for a gear box only right hand rotation. I made a deal with Whirl Wind for 4 Master Blaster 2.3 80" blades which I didn't think the caddy had it in her but she didn't let me down. In fact I think I'm going to have to put more pitch in it.

My work boat has a 220 gpu on it ,with a warp drive, its on a 14 ft hull. It will not get on plane.
I thank it JUNK.

Thanks Mudpuppy, After receiving your 4 blade for that price I was going to order up a box. Oh well. Might take the right moment to get in that mood again.

After I got rid of my Sirius, I went thru everything PS had excluding the wide blades and was unhappy. Finally got a Master Blaster, Man what a difference, this thing pushes harder and is quieter than the PS. I can cruise at alot lower rpms than before and still have that low end push, running a 18x8 Diamondback with a 454 2.31 belt drive. Just my $0.02 worth. I would love to try the wide blade sensenich, but money is an object of which I don't have!!

Something's wrong for sure, wrong size prop, motor worn out, hook in the hull or just plain too much weight.

With my Warp and my heavy-ass boat I can run dry ground, and have never had a problem getting on plane. I just want more performance and less "sound"

Red its all above with that boat. Tha hole boat is JUNK. Today I got 4 of the workers to push it so it would go. (in knee deep water) NO JOKE!

Sheez Bubba!
And here I was thinking you had a dream job, cruising around on an airboat all day. 8)

Hang in there man.
Stay safe.

I run a 16 blade counter rotator 572 panther hull 11 people run dry ground no problem.

I just like the snap of the warp drives.
