Trim Tab(s)

I know the subject has been thrown around several times but....

Please advise on trim tabs! I really like to install the "Uncle Bubba" spring type trim tab that would not be damaged when going from water to dry ground.

Any advise on width" X length" and rated spring pressure would really be appreciated. Would this be a "trial and error" thing per individual boat?

141, No I can't throw my "gay dog" in the front to stop the porpoiseing!

Had to go there!

Teach the dawg to ride up front and feed it more so it is a little heavier and get it a testosterone injection or two and you will be on the right path LOL

My first boat had a trim tab and it really sucked. I finally just took it off and gave it away. That boat porpoised at about 30 ---the trim tab felt like throwing out an anchor --- I just backed off on the throttle to make it stop.

My new boat will come out of the hole like a pea out of a spoon and go to WOT and never porpoise. I think it's all in how the boat is set up. A trim tab would be my last resort. I'd go with the dog first.

Lucy,

You got some "splaining to do"!!!!

Bigtime jeff gorden fan that 141 is... he thought my dog, (full-blooded pit bull) was also a "fudge-packing" rainbow warrior groupie cause of his multi-colored dog collar a few months ago! 141 you can now rest easy as he now has the "punkd" leather and spike type collar.

I've had the boat up to 37, (lots of pedal left) and would someday like to see what the top-end is on the thing. Only porpoises occasionally but would really like to stop it.

Had too much weight on the bow at one time, (stopped the porpoiseing, started submarining when coming down from a plane). Gotta be a "nuetral ground" I could reach without adding the weight of a "flamer"!

HONEST WADE IT REALLY WAS A RAINBOW COLLAR AND i HAVE PICTURES TO PROVE IT. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS I HEAR THE DOG OUT GREW THAT PHASE IN HIS LIFE NOW AND IS BACK TO NORMAL LOL

cntry,

Good news :D

My "gay" pit bull was a father 8 weeks ago :occasion5:

Got rid of all but one of the pups easily cause they look and act just like him!

This is a photo of the Sheriff's boat at the Broward show that you mentioned you liked, Jeff. I like it too... it's a combination of Bubba's spring loaded tab, and driver's seat adjustable too. Seems like you could change the size or drill extra holes in the triangle plate to change the ratio/power of the thing too. (if necessary)

Also note that it is not as big (front to back) as most of the electric tabs out there.

And then there is the little aluminum brackets we mounted on our boat...

These little things made a world of difference in the ride of our boat. Depending on our load and wind conditions, it'll still bounce but it is a big improvement.

We also if you have polymere take and shim the middle of the polymere with wooden shim shingles drive in with a hammer and break them off. poor mans trimm tab. my first boat bucked so bad I went and frogged Kissimee one night I had about a 10 mile run to where I was huntin and I put 2 - 80 lb bags of concrete on the bow and went huntin.

Little changes can really help. A guy near here with a Caddy DD boat was havin' a little porpoising on plane. His battery was back next to the engine stand, so he added a second battery and moved them both to under the front of his seat stand. The boat selttled right down.

you can also put a jack under your engine stand and actually pull the bottom of the boat up to take the convex curve out of the bottom. Should bring the nose back down. Mood had a picture of a setup like that.

And here's that picture, Dan. I'd not try a jack like this on a fiberglass boat though. At least, not ours! But I really like how this jack is designed to push or pull.

Basket you should have ordered a submarine you like putting as much stuff on that boat as possably just bend the rear lip a very little bit

cchardt,

I was on a 'nuke" submarine way back when in the Navy, (those days are gone)!

Gettin' lazy in my old age and want to get the ball pien hammer off the boat!
