fellas i need some help on how to wire the trim tab to a switch? it is a12v lenco tab one black wire an one white. touch it to the bat it goes up or reverse the wires it goes down. i just dont know how to wire it to a switch.

Heres a way that will work for ya.

You need a 2 POLE, Double THROW, center OFF, spring return switch rated high enough to carry the load of the motor in the trim tab first.

The trim tab black & white go to the two center contacts of the switch. It makes no difference which is left and which is right.

now on one end of the switch ya go - on left and + on right, on the other end ya go + on left and - on the right.

This gives the reverse polarity when ya throw it in opposite directions. It isn't important which end is which cause if ya want up to be in a CERTAIN direction, just orient the switch that way in the mounting hole.

EDIT: Heres a link to decent toggle switches. The S823D looks about right but it doesnt say its spring return. It may be, no real way to tell from this. Just a guide for what to look for.

For refrence (in case the kid at the autoparts store can't figure out what kind of switch you need) Freightliner uses this same type of switch for their power windows in many of the older (FLD120) and proabably new trucks too. The switch is made by Cole-Hersee and it'll have six terminals: two in the center are power supply and the two on each opposing end are power out.
Don't forget to protect the system with a breaker or fuse.

Ifriz,
If you ain't already got it figured out by now, then check this link.

Scroll down to Double Pole - Double Throw switch diagrams.

That will show you how to wire up the switch.

Scotty gave a good explanation above, but a diagram may make it easier to understand.
A picture's worth a thousand words for somebody like me anyhow.
