Trucker hits Alligator;takes it home to VA

That's one LUCKY trucker ! If he had been caught at a weigh station or at the State line he would be short a rig and sittin hind bars.

Can't transport them things like that.

Sue hope he doesn't catch anything from it. Doctors up North won't be looking for gator diseaases and could miss it til its too late.

On the flip side, he is going to have a really nice purse, wallet or belt ! Its just a shame he didnt put it on ice and save the meat.

I always thought if you hit wild game, you had to leave it laying unless a warden gives permission to remove.
 
Wild Hair , I've been told that here in Bama a conservation officer wouldn't respond to an accident involving a deer. I've heard that to do so would be accepting responsibility for the damages , and the state would have to repair the vehicle. I don't know if this is B.S. or fact, but I've never saw a game warden at such a crash! To move an animal killed in an auto accident is permitted as for as I know.
 
I am involved with nuisance wildlife and have been involved for quite a few years. He was not allowed to transport or be in posession of the gator period. Unless they have changed the rules, ( not a law ) which takes the board of commissioners in Tallahassee to do so. Sometimes I do know that a warden will release road kill, mainly deer to the victim but I am not to sure thats even clearly legal. So M.H.O. is he was lucky to get out of state with it. I'm not to sure he will save that hide either after it has went thru such a heat as it has. Later
 
No doubt the whole gator is trash with the exception of maybe bleaching the head. You put a gator in the sun on for 2-3 hours and you will slip the hide much less 2-3 days.
 
Hit a deer once and just busted it's back legs! It was trying to get away from we with just his front legs. Wasn't the nicest mercy killing but all I had in the trunk was an axe! :wink:
