About a year or so ago A fireman named Bob Carr came on here wanting to get information on Airboats for doing SAR work he had been given a fiberglass hull and was wondering if it was worth fixing up to use at their Fire Dept to do SAR work and as usual all of us stepped up to the plate and gave him lots of good information I contacted him off line and told him that Fiberglass hulls are not good for doing SAR work so I contacted Bobby and Fran at Diamondback to see if they could help out this small town Fire dept out and as Usual they agreed to help them
they had a great little used Aluminum hull boat there with a 350 chevy and a belt drive which they gave them a really great deal on and after the town did a few fund raisers the bought the boat
Diamondback worked on the boat and got it in serviceable condition for SAR work and then off to Iowa it went and after these firemen got this boat they worked on it for months during the winter to really spruce it up and what they got was a sharp little boat that they could be proud of , the whole time this was going on Bob stayed in constant contact with me keeping me up to date on their progress and getting advice from me, well a few weeks ago Bob sent me a picture of the finished product and I was amazed on what a fantastic job these folks did on this boat, it was defiantly something to be proud of
Then last week I flew out to Iowa to train them on the DOI basic airboat operator course and what I found was some of the nicest people I have ever met anywhere that was ready to listen and learn how to safely operate there new rescue boat, we had a few motor issues which they busted there butts and worked threw and now the boat runs perfect and the whole class passed the class with no problem and now they have a valuable rescue boat that they can now operate with confidence to help people on the rivers and lakes in their area and the best thing of all it has generated a lot of interest by neighboring Fire departments to also get Airboats
