Cylinder heads are the biggest key to making power. Vortec heads work great right out of the box for making good low and mid range power.

I found these kits at Scoggin Dickey Performance that are a pretty good deal and have everything you need to bolt the heads on to your short block. Wish I would have gone this way instead of piecing everything together myself
