Warning! I hired a guy in Floral City to do work on my airboat. Said guy works on airboats and is in the industry. He installed a manufactures freshly remanned gearbox (my same box) on my boat. He FIRED it WITHOUT oil. He admitted it to manufacturer but failed to tell me before or after I picked up my boat. I drained oil in box shortly after getting it back for piece of mind after him having it for 2.5 months. It had a suspicious amount of metal shavings on the magnet. I called manufacturer and the manufacturer enlightened me that the guy admitted firing it without oil after he called in a panic wondering if it would be ok. I had to take box back off and deliver it back to manufacturer. No help or concern from the guy. Had to even break one of the main bolts he installed on the motor mount because nut was crossthreaded and still a quarter inch from being snug to bottom of box. Manufacturer took it apart and they found the new gears were blackened and small chips/chunks were in it. Symptoms of a fired, oilless box! The guy that knowingly fired the oilless gearbox is not taking any kind of responsibility and doesnt even answer calls or texts. Another life lesson for me but hopefully can stop others before they make the same mistake! This guy is very dishonest and is unaccountable for his actions. PM me if you have questions on who the person is and dont want to make same mistake! I will inform you!
 
What brand drive are you running ?

Sounds like the company that made the drive is an honest and quality company. They should be recognized.

I’m sure you know how the courts work but if all of what you say is accurate clearly this is a rock solid civil case. As this is less than $8000 of damage (4K) at best it’s jurisdiction would fall in a small claims court jurisdiction.
That is basically a DIY if you so desired.

Tips:
Note dates / times and comments
Save or screen shot call log/email/texts etc
Obtain written motorized statement from drive Co.
Take pics of damage

Yea I dont have the time to deal with the guy in court but I really appreciate the information. He is an example of what America has become lately. Unaccountability runs rampant anymore. Ran a box oilless but looked for every way to blame someone or something else. I just don’t want anyone to make the same mistake. I want to talk to manufacturer before I give their name out but they are honest and stand behind their product. Not to mention there shop is super clean and ridiculously organized if that tells you anything!

I still haven't heard from the idiot that did this. Won’t answer texts or calls. I’m a forgiving guy, people make mistakes, but to disappear from any accountability….
